Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer / IBM Z Series Specialist (Remote - SE Asia)

We are seeking an experienced IBM Z Series Mainframe Engineer based in Vietnam to join our clients’ mainframe dev team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and modernizing the core IBM Z platform environments. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in z/OS environments and a proven track record of working within highly regulated industries such as banking, finance, or telecommunications. Your role & responsibilities System Maintenance: Monitor, configure, and maintain IBM Z mainframe environments (z/OS, z/VM) to ensure 24/7 high availability and performance. Storage & Database Admin: Manage mainframe storage architectures, datasets, and catalog structures, including DB2 for z/OS or IMS. Security & Compliance: Administer mainframe security policies using RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret, ensuring alignment with global compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS). Performance Tuning: Troubleshoot system bottlenecks, manage workload configurations (WLM), and optimize batch processing and JCL execution. Modernization Support: Assist in integrating legacy systems with modern hybrid cloud environments using z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition or IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz).Required Skills & Qualifications Your skills & qualifications Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience dealing directly with IBM Z Series hardware (z14, z15, or z16) and z/OS operating systems. Core Technical Stack: Strong proficiency in JCL, TSO/ISPF, CICS, and IBM MQ. Programming Languages: Familiarity with COBOL, PL/I, or Assembler (highly preferred for application-focused roles). Industry Background: Prior experience working with major regional or global financial institutions, shared services, or tier-1 IT integrators. Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed global teams.
